This episode you get the chance to listen one of the great experimental guitar players, David Torn.  I have loved his laying in various ensembles throughout the years.  Whether he is jamming out with Terry Bozzio in Polytown, experimenting with new instruments and instrumental techniques on Cloud About Mercury or just wailing away on Prezens – he always sounds impressive.  I hope you enjoy his music as much as I enjoy playing it for you!!  Enjoy!!

This week it’s again my pleasure to show of the musical talents of Cuong Vu.  The trumpeter and composer has released another sure to be jazz hit with “Leaps Of Faith”.  He starts out the disc reinterpreting several jazz classics in a way that can only remind you of Coltrane’s genius.  He has an ethereal sound that just winds it’s way around your brain and takes it on a ride.  Listen in to music from this recording and Vu-Tet, Come Play With Me and much more.  Buckle up and get ready for another ride through this land called jazz.  Enjoy!!

I couldn’t be happier with this month’s selection of tunes for the “Monthly Mix”!  Garaj Mahal, Christian Scott, Chick Corea, David Torn, Ozric Tentacls to name a few of the goodies your ears can grab this week.  I always thought the mix episodes would be easy to put together but there are SOOOOO many good tunes out there – it’s turning out to be hard – maybe I should make these episodes 4 hours long  Enjoy!!
